Police Chief Apologizes For Allowing Minority Abuses To Be Filmed
Hartford, CT -- A video has surfaced on social media showing the beating of an unarmed black woman. The footage shows her lying face down on the ground, spread eagle, while no less than 8 different Hartford Police officers punch, elbow, and taze her.
The video was uploaded by a passerby who was walking past the scene of the arrest. The person who captured the video has chosen to remain anonymous.
Police Chief Walter Newman issued the following statement outside City Hall, in response to the disturbing footage:
“First of all, I would like to apologize to our citizens, as well as the lawmakers here in the state’s capital. We let you down. I am not sure how we allowed ourselves to be filmed by the public, but we shouldn't have let this happen. My police officers know better. At least two of the officers should have been keeping an eye on the crowd to make sure they prevented the recording of our duties. Instead, an excess of our officers became distracted by trying to provoke a reaction from the perpetrator. We have already drawn up courses, and exercises, to help our officers get better at spotting and preventing bystander recordings of police procedure. We have also started teaching our officers fake laws they can cite when confiscating a bystander's camera. The public will not, I repeat, not, have to see this sort of behavior again. Unless they want to. In that case feel free to visit our website www.crazydashcamvids.gov."
Police are still looking for the person responsible for recording the footage. They warn this person is probably a communist, and definitely does not eat enough red meat.
