Doughy Slow White Guy Has Better Poise And Intangibles Than Athletic Electric Darker Quarterback
Arlington, TX -- NFL draft pundits and management continued to hammer home the obvious point that a doughy slow white guy has much better poise and intangibles than a similar, but much much better athlete who also appears to be much much darker.
“We’re all about projecting who is going to be the best player for our team and who will be the best leader. It’s not just about how high you can jump, or how great a ball you throw, how strong you are. It’s about things that can’t be measured, like, do I think of you as traditionally being from a family that produces a great quarterback? Or does my implicit bias prevent me from seeing that you are actually the better talent and best fit for my team? You know what I mean,” said scout Pete Peteyson.
“For me, the answer is in the intangibles. Are you the type of guy I want to grab a beer with? Is your background most likely to prevent you from being a problem down the road? Do I want you hanging around my family?”
ESPN NFL draft insider Mike Mikerstaff was more blunt in his assessments. “Look a player might not have the most amazing body or the greatest athleticism, but I have to think of him as being in that traditional quarterback mold. Gritty. Blue-collar. You reading between the lines?”
Only time will tell how this draft shakes out for the teams and draft selections.
